We have absolutely loved our time in the great state of Texas and are going to thoroughly miss it. Here is our top 5 favorite things to do in Texas:
#5 San Antonio — We had such blast exploring the Alamo as well as the famous river walk, we had to go back for the Christmas River Parade over Thanksgiving weekend! Great food, markets, history, art, and fun!
#4 Hamilton Pool — Even though it was overcast and we weren’t able to swim, this is still a stunning water feature. Must stop if you are ever in hill country!
#3 Camping on the Beach on Mustang Island — With, what felt like, the whole beach to ourselves we “oohed,” “aahed,” and “wowed” over beautiful sunsets and sunrises beyond the waves.
#2 Austin — Where do I even start?!? Lady Bird Lake (kayaking), South Congress, Barton Springs Pool, Barton Creek Greenbelt, bats, Zilker Park, LBJ Presidential Library, Moody Theater (home of Austin City Limits Live), food trucks, street art, and more! After enjoying the food, music, and outdoor attractions living in South Austin for three months, we would highly recommend keepin’ it weird in this beautiful city.
#1 Big Bend National Park — Being 7.5 hours from Austin we never thought it would be worth the drive, and we wrote it off after the first few weeks in Texas–but we were completely wrong! Big mountains, big views, big canyons, hot springs, and more! This certainly deserves a look, and was a trip we will never forget.
